Saying "Yes" to Life
If you have not yet seen it, we encourage you to buy a ticket....NO, buy 3 or 4 tickets and take a few of your friends with you and go see the new hit film Unplanned, a movie that tells the real-life story of Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood director who fled her clinic and became one of the most prominent pro-life voices in America.
YES, WE'RE PRO-LIFE!
There, we said it! Of course, with a name like our name (Lighthouse Christian School), it's not difficult to guess which way we stand on the biggest debate of the past couple generations; namely, life or choice. The choice, of course, is whether someone should be allowed to kill the life of an unborn baby.
Did anyone ever imagine that once the decision to legalize abortion had been made in the United States Supreme Court case of Roe V. Wade in 1973 that the lives of dozens of millions of babies would be snuffed out over the course of the following few decades. Here are some chilling facts:
More babies are killed by abortion each year than the total number of citizens of any one nation in the bottom 90% of the world's nations by population
Far more human lives have been violently ended by this scourge than by any other war or genocide in all of history
93% of all abortions occur for social reasons (that is, the child is unwanted or inconvenient)
In America alone, there are more than 2,500 abortions performed each and every day
THE GOOD NEWS
Many experts believe the overall rate of abortions is actually declining. PRAISE THE LORD!! Unfortunately, we really don't know what that rate is. This is just an estimate. Nonetheless, one abortion is too many when we realize we are talking about human life!
Will there ever be a day when the shame of killing unborn, defenseless babies in the womb (and out) of women is so great that its mere thought would cause repentance. As disciples of Jesus, the Lord has given us the power to pray. Prayer really does change things. Many of us believe that it may have been the lack of prayer by Christians during the 20th century that allowed abortion to be legalized and that the prayer movement of the 21st century can be what rescinds this horrific act.
We challenge you to begin asking the Holy Spirit to move on people and convict the hearts of every person that would even entertain the idea of an abortion and instead, choose life!
